Three Questions You Should Ask a Laser Cutting Shop Before Hiring Them

The integrity of your products is the lifeblood of your business. Before you put your trust in a laser cutting shop, you should feel confident in their expertise and abilities.

By asking the following questions, you can get a better sense of whether or not putting your parts in that shop’s hands will be a good idea for your company.

How experienced are you in product design?

A reputable and reliable laser cutting shop will be able to recognize potential issues with product design before parts go into production.

At BenCo, we use SolidWorks 3D modeling software to plan ahead and identify potential issues before additional effort and expense are spent. By creating a 3D model, we’re able to recommend ways to “value engineer” projects to make parts more cost-effectively without sacrificing quality or strength.

What types of laser cutting equipment do you have?

Options are always a plus at laser cutting shops. The more available, the more likely your parts can be produced quickly and at lower cost. At BenCo, our PA laser cutting shop includes the following:

  • CO2 Flat Sheet Lasers – These are effective when cutting parts from large sheets of metal. Flat sheet lasers are accurate, consistent and fast.
  • Flat Sheet Fiber Lasers – Besides the same advantages as CO2 flat sheet lasers, flat sheet fiber lasers can also cut a wider variety of metals quickly and with precision.
  • 3D Tube Lasers – Their 3D rotating laser heads cut not only straight “stick” stock, but also round tube, channel, angle, square tube and other open profile stock. Because they can cut, bevel, countersink and chamfer all at once, 3D tube laser cutting doesn’t require multiple processes. Therefore, it saves time and money.
  • Laser Marking and Engraving Equipment – These machines enable us to etch bar codes, company logos, serial numbers, QR codes, part numbers, patterns, text or other details onto parts’ surfaces.

What’s your project turn-around time?

Our typical turn-around time for a run at BenCo Technology usually measures in weeks. But we can expedite projects whenever customers need parts faster. No matter the size of a part or volume of parts needed, we can accommodate completion within 24 hours when necessary. So whether you need a rush prototype or have an end client for whom you need to fill an order for ASAP, we’ve got you covered!

Never be afraid to ask questions!

At BenCo, we know how important your parts and components are to the livelihood of your business. We want you to feel confident in your decision to use our services. Contact us to talk about your next project. We’ll be happy to answer all of your questions!
