Exactly What Is Laser Engraving?

Laser engraving is a technology that uses a precise laser to mark parts made out of various materials. Laser engraving works well on nearly all types of metal, and it can also create permanent markings on glass, ceramics, leather and other materials.
We use laser engraving in a wide variety of applications for our customers. Here’s a sampling of how it might be used when manufacturing your parts and components:

When marking or etching, our skilled designers program our Trumpf TruMark Laser Engraver to respond to the particular material being engraved so your part isn’t damaged or stressed in the process. You get a permanently engraved part that maintains its structural integrity.
In addition to what our laser engraving equipment does, we can also do basic etching using our laser cutting machines as we’re cutting parts. We typically do this to add marking to parts so subsequent steps in the assembly process – welding, for example – will go smoothly. The markings make it simple to align parts so they’re put together correctly, and that helps ensure your end product is as sound as it can be.
