Three Types Of Welding for Flawless Parts
Welding is one of the essential elements of producing perfect parts and products. Part age-old art and part advanced science, welding a project with precision requires expertise and equipment that uses the latest and best technology.
At our PA welding service, we have AWS-certified welders who have years of experience manually building complex assemblies and weldments. With our precisely calibrated equipment, they can meet the most exacting specifications for even the most complicated assemblies.
Our manual welding processes—MIG and TIG—are perfect for difficult weldments and for projects requiring smaller volumes to be produced. We also offer robotic welding, which works great for larger volumes and highly repetitious work.
Here’s some additional information to help you understand how each type of welding works.
MIG Welding
MIG welding uses a thin wire as an electrode and filler fed by a roll wire feeder into the gun. An argon and CO2 mixture, or straight CO2, is used as a shielding gas during the process. Suitable for fusing stainless steel, mild steel, and aluminum, MIG welding is widely used in industrial and residential settings. MIG is especially effective when assembling parts made of thin metal.
TIG Welding
A very versatile method of welding, TIG welding produces superior results. TIG welding is done using a torch with a tungsten electrode. It uses argon as a protective shield between the tungsten and the weld. Filler wire is dipped in the weld pool as the weld advances.
TIG welding can be applied on just about any type of metal. Because this form of welding involves some complexity such as controlling the torch, feeding wire, maintaining a uniform speed, and using the correct current, it requires a lot of practice to master.
Robotic Welding
In our PA welding shop, we also have state-of-the-art robotic welding equipment. Fast and highly efficient, robotic welding offers precision for high volumes of components that need to be produced quickly. It works extremely well with simple and repetitive high-volume projects, because the output it produces goes far beyond what a human technician can achieve in the same amount of time.
